Roll Back lost Contacts

I went too quickly and erased all 4500 of my contacts which are really about 3000 because of the duplicates and why I am living this nightmare. There is a feature on this app that actually tells you in the fine print on the screen you will never lose a contact because you can simply roll back any of the contacts you deleted - so I select that and do not touch my phone for 7 hours - look at phone and the wheel is just spinning and not one contact was put back as advertised - I know it is something I am doing correct so please assist me and help me get all my contacts back, even the duplicates at this stage of the game - I havent a clue on who is texting me at all and its beyond frustrating! HELP!!!
